The biggest day of the NFL offseason is almost among us as the league’s 32 franchises all get set for the start of the 2024 draft.
The action takes place in Detroit this year, with the first round taking place on Thursday evening, rounds two and three on Friday, before the final four rounds of picks on Saturday.
While we brace for shock picks, blockbuster trades and other draft day drama, here is DAZN’s first-round mock draft.
1. Chicago Bears - Caleb Williams, QB, USC
No need to overthink this one. Williams enters the draft as the most highly-rated quarterback prospect since Andrew Luck and the Bears will waste no time in making him their new franchise QB.
2. Washington Commanders - Jayden Daniels, QB, LSU
The first big decision of the draft comes here, with the Commanders having to choose between Daniels and Drake Maye. Daniels should be a good fit for Kliff Kingsbury’s offense in Washington and should be great fun to watch this season.
3. New England Patriots - Drake Maye, QB, North Carolina
If Daniels goes to Washington, Maye goes to New England. Yes, there has been speculation over a potential trade, but the Pats should embrace the opportunity to land this talented, tough, athletic prospect.
4. Arizona Cardinals - Marvin Harrison Jr., WR, Ohio State
While the Cards could trade this pick for a bounty of picks, they already have six selections in the top 100 and enter the draft with a wide receiver the priority. Don’t overthink it. Grab the player who’s the best wideout prospect in years.
5. Minnesota Vikings (via LA Chargers) - J.J. McCarthy, QB, Michigan
The first trade of our mock sees the Vikings deal their number 11 and 23 picks to the Chargers in order to get themselves the last of the top-tier quarterbacks this year.
6. New York Giants - Rome Odunze, WR, Washington
With the top four QBs off the board, the Giants resist the temptation to call time on Daniel Jones and instead give him a valuable weapon as Jones looks to bounce back from a lost season.
7. Tennessee Titans - Joe Alt, T, Notre Dame
The rush on skill positions means that the Titans can fill their biggest need with the best lineman on the board. A no-brainer of a pick, with the gigantic Alt being a day one starter for the Titans.
8. Atlanta Falcons - Byron Murphy II, DT, Texas
It’s about here where things get interesting and the draft can splinter off in a number of ways. The Falcons’ pass rush needs help and the explosive Murphy can provide it.
9. Chicago Bears - Malik Nabers, WR, LSU
With only four picks in the whole draft, do the Bears trade down and give themselves more picks to play with, or do they look to get a second big hitter of the evening? With Nabers still on our board, they quickly do the latter.
10. New York Jets - Brock Bowers, TE, Georgia
Aaron Rodgers should love this pick. One of the best pass catchers in a stacked draft, Bowers has the potential and toughness to dominate the middle of the field and contribute from day one.
11. LA Chargers (from Minnesota Vikings) - JC Latham, T, Alabama
We know Harbaugh wants to bolster his offensive line and he has first-hand experience of the run-blocker, who plugs the gap that the Chargers have at right tackle.
12. Denver Broncos - Jared Verse - EDGE, Florida State
The Broncos don’t have the picks to trade up and grab a quarterback and won’t want to reach for Bo Nix or Michael Penix Jr. at number 12, so they grab a player with the potential to be an elite pass rusher.
13. Las Vegas Raiders - Taliese Fuaga, OT, Oregon State
Another team unable to achieve their wish of landing a quarterback here, the Raiders take advantage of the number of excellent offensive line prospects by grabbing the dominant Fuaga.
14. New Orleans Saints - Olumuyiwa Fashanu - OT, Penn State
Derek Carr gets a protector in the form of the powerful and athletic tackle out of Penn State as another lineman goes off the board.
15. Indianapolis Colts - Quinyon Mitchell, DB, Toledo
The Colts need help at cornerback and won’t turn down a prospect with Mitchell’s physical attributes.
16. Seattle Seahawks - Laiatu Latu, EDGE, UCLA
The explosive pass rusher looks to be a perfect fit for the Seahawks and new head coach Mike Macdonald and only questions about his medical history stop him going higher.
17. Jacksonville Jaguars - Terrion Arnold, DB, Alabama
As the Jags’ AFC South rivals Houston put together a scary-looking offense, Jacksonville will look to bolster their defence with a top cornerback prospect.
18. Cincinnati Bengals - Troy Fautanu, T, Washington
Questions over Trent Brown’s recent injury history mean the Bengals look to land an offensive tackle and further insure themselves against anything happening to Joe Burrow.
19. Buffalo Bills (via LA Rams) - Brian Thomas Jr., WR, LSU
The Bills move up to land a much-needed wide receiver following Stefon Diggs’s trade to the Texans.
20. Pittsburgh Steelers - Amarius Mims, OT, Georgia
At 6ft 7in, Mimms will feel at home in the Steelers trenches as they look to prioritise the running game this season.
21. Miami Dolphins - Dallas Turner, EDGE, Alabama
The Miami defense reeled from the loss of Christian Wilkins, so they look to add the best lineman left on the board.
22. Philadelphia Eagles - Nate Wiggins, CB, Clemson
Another excellent cornerback prospect that new defensive coordinator Vic Fangio can mould into something special.
23. LA Chargers (via Minnesota Vikings) - Adonai Mitchell
A deep threat that can fill a position of need for the Chargers.
24. Dallas Cowboys - Graham Barton - OL, Duke
The Cowboys need help on their offensive line and Barton’s versatility will be a big plus.
25. Green Bay Packers - Cooper DeJean - DB, Iowa
A versatile back that can help the Packers’ new-look defense.
26. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Chop Robinson, EDGE, Penn State
Has the kind of speed and explosiveness that Todd Bowles craves.
27. Las Vegas Raiders (via Arizona Cardinals) - Michael Penix Jr., QB, Washington
After missing out on a quarterback first time round, the Raiders trade back into the first round in order to land their own.
28. LA Rams (via Buffalo Bills) - Jer’zhan Newton, DT, Illinois
Aaron Donald is a tough act to follow, but Newton’s power, speed and attitude mean he can make an impact.
29. Denver Broncos (via Detroit Lions) - Bo Nix, QB, Oregon
The Broncos can’t risk missing out on a QB so trade back into the first round to grab Bo Nix.
30. Baltimore Ravens - Ladd McConkey, WR, Georgia
Lamar Jackson gets himself a new target.
31. San Francisco 49ers - Jordan Morgan, T, Arizona
Offensive line was an issue for this stacked offense last year and Morgan has the potential to be a long-term replacement for Trent Williams.
32. Kansas City Chiefs - Ennis Rakestraw Jr., CB, Missouri
The champs round out the first round by drafting a L’Jarius Sneed replacement.
