Two 4-4 with concerns around their quarterbacks meet in week nine.

After starting 0-4, the Minnesota Vikings have hauled themselves back to 4-4 with a four-game winning streak. In week eight, they defeated the Green Bay Packers 24-10, but the win came at a significant cost.

Quarterback Kirk Cousins suffered an apparent Achilles injury in the fourth quarter. The Minnesota medical staff carted Cousins off, and early opinions suggest it could end Cousins' season. With Cousins a free agent at the end of the season, the injury may have ended his Vikings career.

Jaren Hall is now the only fit quarterback left on Minnesota's roster. The Vikings may make a move at the trade deadline to find another quarterback. Minnesota is playing well; rookie Jordan Addison is flying. However, Cousins' injury is a dagger to their hopes.

The Falcons also made a change at quarterback last week. Head coach Arthur Smith benched Desmond Ridder for backup Taylor Heinicke. Heinicke played well, throwing a touchdown and committing no turnovers. Smith told reporters after the game that the move was not made for performance reasons, hinting that Ridder was hurt.

It could be a fraught week in Atlanta, as quarterback controversies never end well. Atlanta lost their last home game, but a win will give them the NFC South lead.
