Cam Newton was never shy in expressing himself during his 11-year NFL career.
The former 2011 number one overall draft pick was one of the best running quarterbacks the league has ever seen and his mark of 75 touchdown runs by a quarterback remains an all-time NFL record.
But even Newton admits that he is not the greatest-ever dual-threat quarterback to play in the NFL after he was asked the question on the 4th and 1 Show.
“No. Lamar Jackson,” he said, before waxing lyrical about the Baltimore Ravens star.
"Lamar's style is different than mine," Newton continued. "He's got big plays, any play. He's got speed that I never had. And he's just a legend.
“And then, I played the game more powerful ... I can run, but I'm going to probably get caught. [Michael] Vick, Lamar, they ain't getting caught."
Former Falcons QB Vick is the current holder of the record for the number of rushing yards from a quarterback at 6,109 - a record that Jackson has in his sights as he needs just 852 more yards to break, meaning it could fall in 2024.
It will take Jackson a while longer to break Newton’s rushing touchdown mark, with the Ravens signal-caller having just 29 touchdowns on the group in his career so far as he gears up for his seventh season in the league.
