A new team has entered the race for veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins.
35-year-old Cousins is a pending free agent. When the NFL's new league year commences on March 13, Cousins will hit the open market.
Teams searching for quarterbacks will covet Cousins' signature. One of those teams looks to be the Atlanta Falcons.
Speaking to 92.9 game radio, Atlanta reporter Zach Klein said, "All eyes, all arrows, everything points towards Kirk Cousins. Arthur Blank has basically told this front office, 'Do what you gotta do, pay what you gotta pay, get it done.
"So everybody I've talked to – agents, other coaches and scouts, guys around the league – that's the feeling that they are saying, of what they are hearing, is that the Falcons will put all their attention on Kirk Cousins moving forward."
Falcons head coach Raheem Morris worked with Cousins in Washington. Furthermore, many pundits believe the Falcons are a top quarterback away from being contenders.
Before suffering a season-ending Achilles injury, Cousins was playing at an extremely high level in 2023. In eight games, Cousins threw 18 touchdowns to five interceptions.
And Cousins' recovery from injury is going well. He is back throwing footballs and moving comfortably.
But the Falcons are not the only team interested in Cousins. Ari Meirov told the 33rd Team that the Denver Broncos could hold interest in Cousins' Meirov said, "An interesting team people keep bringing up is Denver. Sean Payton wants a quarterback that can come in and play immediately."
