The Dallas Cowboys quarterback has spoken about the potential of getting a new deal done in Texas.

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott says he is ‘confident’ over the prospect of signing a new contract with the franchise.

Prescott is about to enter the final year of his current deal in Dallas, with the Cowboys suffering another disappointing early playoff exit last season as they fell at home to the seventh-seed Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card round after winning the NFC East.

As the Cowboys look to get over the hump in Prescott’s ninth season with the franchise in 2024, the QB sounded bullish on the prospects of getting a new long-term deal wrapped up this offseason.

"I'm definitely confident," Prescott told ESPN’s Todd Archer. "Obviously, it helps the team. It's important for the numbers.

"That is a process. Both sides understand that. Everything's great. It'll happen."

Dallas currently sits $10million over the salary cap and will need to make sure they are under the cap before the new league year starts alongside free agency next week.

Prescott is not the only Cowboy looking to secure a new deal this year, with wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and linebacker Micah Parsons among the key players who will be looking to finalise big-money extensions this offseason.
