The good news for the Dallas Cowboys is that Dak Prescott is back for the 2021 season.
Prescott suffered a season-ending ankle injury in October 2020, also effectively ending the Cowboys' hopes of improving upon their .500 record from a year previous and returning to the playoffs. Instead, Dallas limped to a 6-10 finish, good for third in the NFC East, and can now look forward to another season of rebuilding.
That's not to say that there aren't any weapons at head coach Mike McCarthy's disposal — along with Prescott, the Cowboys also boast perennial Pro Bowlers Amari Cooper and Ezekiel Elliott — but rather that Cowboys fans are better off keeping expectations low and being pleasantly surprised if "America's Team" puts everything together and earns a spot in the postseason this year.
