The Detroit Lions were favoured to run rampant over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, and they did exactly that in a 52-6 victory at Ford Field.
With the teams at opposite ends of the standings, the Lions were expected to score early and often against a Jags team missing their starting quarterback, Trevor Lawrence.
However, the Jaguars kept the scoreline respectable through the first quarter of Sunday's contest, only allowing seven points by their hosts and heading into the second quarter down 7-3. That's where the positive vibes ended for the visitors, who were outscored 21-3 in the second frame and didn't score at all in the final 30 minutes of the game, as Detroit got to the end zone nearly unchallenged throughout.
It was such a one-sided scoreline that the Lions actually scored more touchdowns in the game (7) than the Jaguars scored points (6).
To add insult to injury for Jacksonville, the Lions also hit a milestone that no other NFL team has reached in 17 years, as they scored a TD in each of their first seven drives. It was the first such occurrence in a regular season game since the 2007 New England Patriots achieved the feat in a Week 11 game against the Buffalo Bills.
The result sees the Lions improve to 9-1 on the season, while the Jags fall to 2-9.
