Philadelphia Eagles legend and now retired star Fletcher Cox has opened up on what happened to the Philadelphia Eagles' 2023-24 campaign.
The Eagles posted a 9-1 record in the first half of last season. Following their bye weeks, the Eagles went 3-5. The late-season collapse saw Philadelphia lose the NFC East title before surrendering to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Super Wild Card round.
It was an astonishing collapse from a team one year removed from a Super Bowl appearance.
On the Rich Eisen Show, Cox gave his thoughts on what happened. He said, "I don't know. I still think about what happened to the team and our season.
"I can't put my finger on it and get my head around it. We had so much talent. We didn't want to end the season that way."
When asked if there was any internal tension, Cox said, "If I knew that was happening, I would have said something. As a locker room leader, I would have addressed it."
The six-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champion also backed under-fire head coach Nick Sirianni, saying, "He is the right guy. This is Philadelphia; the fans are demanding whenever things go wrong. But Nick is the right guy; he took us to the playoffs for three straight years. He knows how to handle players, and I'm happy to see him stay."
The Eagles enter 2024 under pressure to right the wrongs of 2023. With Jason Kelce and now Cox retired, it promises to be a big season for Philadelphia.
