While the eyes of the NFL world are locked in on the upcoming draft which kicks off on Thursday, April 25, a bit of lighter relief for fans is also on the way.
That’s because a number of teams are not only looking to change up their rosters, but also shake up how they’ll look on the field as well.
As many as four NFL teams will be revealing brand-new uniforms in the coming weeks, with most of them set to unveil their new looks in time for the draft.
The Detroit Lions will be the first to show the world their new uniforms when they reveal them at an event at Ford Field on Thursday, April 18. Details on what to expect are sparse, but they won’t be moving away from their traditional silver and blue colour scheme.
Following the Lions will be the Denver Broncos, who will release their new designs on Monday, April 22. President Damni Leech said that the team’s logo and colours will remain the same, but the uniform will undergo ‘a full redesign’.
The following day it will be the turn of the Houston Texans. Again, there won’t be a change to the team’s logo, but we will see new uniforms - with owner Cal McNair already jumping the gun on Reddit and leaking the white away jersey paired with blue pants.
Finally, the New York Jets have said new uniforms will be coming on an unnamed date in April. Their ‘Legacy White’ uniform that debuted last season will join their permanent rotation, with green and black versions also on the way.
There has also been another piece of NFL uniform news, as the league has revised their policy to allow teams to add a third helmet design to the mix. Only teams that are going through a re-design can take up a third helmet in 2024, before the rest of the league have the option in 2025.
