Ten-time former Cleveland Pro Bowler Joe Thomas says the current Browns team is "undoubtedly" the best since 1999.

The Browns finished the 2023 regular season 11-6, second in the AFC North behind the Baltimore Ravens, and the fifth seed in the playoffs.

Cleveland takes on AFC South winners the Houston Texans on Super Wild Card weekend, kick-off at 4:30 p.m. ET / 9:30 p.m. UK / 10:30 p.m. CET on Saturday.

As well as having one of the league's best defenses, Cleveland have also looked great on offense since the arrival of former Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco.

Thomas admitted it "is a little weird" cheering on the quarterback who won a Super Bowl with the Browns' divisional rivals.

But speaking to the Up & Adams Show, Thomas praised Flacco and the whole team ahead of the start of the playoffs.

"This is the team that has brought the most momentum into the playoffs since 1999, the last two times the Browns made it they squeaked in," said Thomas.

"They got to rest all their starters in Week 18 to get healthy because they had already locked up the top wildcard spot.

"With the number one defense overall and Joe Flacco on offense, they've got things humming.

"When you have a guy like Flacco and his connection with Amari Cooper and David Njoku, they have an explosive play threat I don't think they have had since 1999.

"Their belief in their ability to overcome any adversity that they see during a game, that will be the difference for the Browns."
