Philadelphia Eagles legend Jason Kelce has announced today that he will retire from football.
The 36-year-old announced this at a press conference in Philadelphia.
Drafted in the sixth round of the 2011 NFL Draft, Kelce has stitched together a legendary career.
Kelce earned six First-Team All-Pro nominations and seven Pro Bowl nominations and was a part of Philadelphia's Super Bowl 52 triumph.
The tenacious offensive lineman started 193 games for the Eagles. Kelce holds the Philadelphia Eagles record for most consecutive starts.
Kelce had wrestled with the idea of retirement last offseason. He was close to retiring after Super Bowl 57 but decided to return on a one-year deal.
Speaking to local reporters ahead of Philadelphia's Super Wildcard game, Kelce hinted that he was again considering retirement. The Eagles lost to Tampa Bay, and Kelce exited the game in tears.
Addressing the media, his teammates, and his family, an emotional Kelce said, "13 seasons in Philadelphia. I look back at the ups and downs. I want to thank my four head coaches, owner Jeffery Lurie and my teammates."
