Former defensive end J.J. Watt has not ruled out coming out of retirement to play for the Houston Texans once again.
Watt spent 10 seasons playing for the Texans between 2011 and 2020, before finishing his career with the Arizona Cardinals for two years.
During his career the 35-year-old was named NFL Defensive Player of the Year three times and still holds the NFL record for most tackles for loss in a season with 39.
Even since retiring, Watt has been linked with a return to the Texans, and he has now provided an update on the chances of that happening.
Speaking to the Pat McAfee Show, Watt said: "They have no need or use for me right now, they have a phenomenal defense built and phenomenal team built, they are perfectly fine.
"It was the same last year as this year, if it came down to an absolutely dire situation where they needed someone to help out then I'd do that.
"I don't think people understand how much stuff would have to happen for that scenario to play itself out.
"Any athlete that has retired has thought about it, but the reason I'm so content with everything is because no matter how great you are, that day is coming no matter what."
