Quarterback Justin Fields is no longer a Chicago Bear. On Saturday, the Bears traded Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers for a 2025 sixth-round pick.
Fields' future has dominated the NFL's offseason headlines. Many fans and experts felt Fields would command many teams' interest, and Chicago would get a more significant return.
Neither of those things happened. Moreover, quarterbacks like Mac Jones and Desmond Ridder found trades before Fields did. Fields' stock has plummeted in the eyes of many NFL teams.
However, former Heisman Trophy winner and NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III sees Fields' status differently.
On social media, Griffin said, "The real message from this trade? The NFL just told Justin Fields they don't think he's good enough.
"31 teams don't think Justin Fields is good enough. I don't see it this way. Justin Fields has all the traits required to be successful. He can beat you with his arms, legs, and mind. He is supremely talented."
Griffin continued, "31 teams told Justin Fields that they didn't want him, except for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Now Fields owes it to Pittsburgh and himself to prove the NFL wrong."
The former Washington Redskins quarterback wants Fields to play with that mindset, saying, "Fields has to embrace that mindset. He has a great coach, Mike Tomlin. But Fields has to have that mindset and make those teams eat their words."
