Kansas City-area neighbourhood's touching gesture for Chiefs player en route to Super Bowl LVIIIGetty

The Super Bowl is a big deal and a point of pride for the cities whose teams are represented in the big game.

That's no different in Kansas City, where the residents have become accustomed to seeing their Chiefs challenge for the Vince Lombardi Trophy in recent years.

But familiarity hasn't tampered excitement, and with the build-up to Super Bowl LVIII now in full force, citizens of KC and the surrounding regions are preparing to cheer their team on once again.

Both the Chiefs and San Francicso 49ers arrived in Las Vegas this week ahead of Sunday's game, and Kansas City rookie Rashee Rice shared a touching gesture his neighbourhood did for him as he departed to meet the rest of his teammates for the flight to Sin City.

Rice posted to Instagram a video of his neighbours lined up along the road cheering and holding signs and banners with personalized messages as he drove by.

The send-off video was captioned by the wide receiver with a "heart hands" and red heart emoji.
