The two-time Super Bowl winner was not gone long.

The Kansas City Chiefs have traded for former wide receiver Mercole Hardman from the New York Jets.

Hardman's time with the Jets has not worked out, and less than seven months after joining the franchise the wide receiver is back at Arrowhead.

The 25-year-old spent four years with the Chiefs - twice winning the Super Bowl - before leaving the franchise at the end of last season.

In his five games with the Jets this season, Hardman totalled just one reception off three targets for six yards.

The trade includes a late-round pick swap, as Kansas City trade away their 2025 sixth round pick for Hardman and the Jets' 2025 seventh round pick.

Hardman's solitary catch for the Jets was the one involvement of his $4 million contract with the franchise.

The wide receiver will immediately be involved in the Chiefs offense, which is still looking for someone to develop into a true second-choice target behind Travis Kelce.

It is a crowded wide receiver room which includes Skyy Moore, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Kadarius Toney, Rashee Rice and Justyn Ross - but Hardman's familiarity with the team should make him an instant factor.

Hardman's first opportunity back with the Chiefs comes in their Week 7 match-up against AFC West rivals the Los Angeles Chargers.
