The Los Angeles Chargers will be watching the playoffs from home after a disappointing 2023 season.
It was a difficult year for the Bolts, who finished the season 5-12 and fired head coach Brandon Staley after capitulating to a 63-21 loss on the road against the Las Vegas Raiders.
The Chargers' only win of the final nine weeks came on December 3, as they beat the New England Patriots 6-0 - tied for the ninth lowest scoring game of the Super Bowl era.
Now the Chargers must look to the 2024 season, and first and foremost appoint a new head coach and general manager.
One thing the Bolts do have is a quality quarterback in Justin Herbert, and speaking to the media at the conclusion of their season, Herbert said he believes they can turn things around quickly.
"I think you'll be able to see that in a year or two," Herbert told the media.
"That's our hope. It wasn't good enough this year and that's on us as players.
"There are things we need to do, need to address and things we need to get better at.
"But there are the right guys here, the right mindset, and there little things we need to fix but I'm looking forward to what we're able to do this offseason and get back to it."
