The rookie running back made some eye catching plays.

The Los Angeles Chargers started their preseason with a 34-17 win against city rivals Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium.

A number of Bolts players impressed, including back-up quarterback Easton Stick, rookie wide receiver and punt returning Derius Davis and first round pick Quentin Johnston.

Davis' 82-yard punt return for a touchdown was the longest score of the game, but there were two more eye-catching touchdowns late in the game.

Both the scores in question came courtesy of undrafted free agent running back Elijah Dotson.

The first score from the running back was a 37-yard run down the left touchline which moved the Chargers two scores clear of the Rams in the fourth quarter.

And Dotson was not finished there, as he looks to stake his claim for a roster spot this preseason.

Dotson's second score was three yards longer than his first touchdown, as he switched on the burners to sprint away from the Rams defence.

In total the 24-year-old had six carries for 92 yards and two touchdowns - a good debut by all accounts.

And if Dotson is looking for inspiration he can find plenty in teammate Austin Ekeler, who was an undrafted free agent himself before signing with the Chargers back in 2017.
