For the first time in three years, the Los Angeles Rams and the Minnesota Vikings will reignite a famous rivalry when they meet in a Week 8 clash of the 2024 NFL season.
Both teams come into this encounter on the back of differing results, but the story of their seasons so far paint a vivid contrast between their varied fortunes.
The Vikings may have suffered a first loss of the term, but Kevin O'Connell's men appear to be a credible threat to the Kansas City Chiefs as a Super Bowl contender.

Looking back over the years, this is a rivalry dominated by the history of their postseason encounters, with few teams meeting as often as the Rams and the Vikings.
Los Angeles and Minnesota have met on seven occasions following the conclusion of the regular campaign, including in the 1974 and 1976 NFC Championship Game.
On both occasions, the Vikings were victorious - and then, on both occasions again, would go on to lose in the match that really mattered, at Super Bowls IX and XL.
The Rams did snag a famous overtime win in 1979, en-route to also reaching Super Bowl XIV, and they won 30-23 in 2021 on the way to winning Super Bowl LVI.
Shortly afterwards, current Vikings coach O'Connell headed north from California, having served as defensive coordinator for Los Angeles during their successful run.

This season though, there has been just one real story between the two - and it has been the remarkable revival of the Vikings as a postseason contender.
In O'Connell's first season, in 2022, they topped the NFC North division with a 13-4 record, but lost in the Wild Card playoffs, and then stuttered to 7-10 last term.
Another flying start - they are 5-1 after a first defeat of the campaign - has them in the box seat, providing they can keep up momentum under QB Sam Darnold.
At the opposite end of the spectrum, the Rams are spluttering along at the foot of the NFC West, a far cry from their halcyon days even only a few campaigns ago.
Sean McVey has his reputation in the bank to lean on, but misfiring performances from stars like Matthew Stafford and a raft of offensive injuries are hampering their chances.
