It's been over six years since the Atlanta Falcons and Green Bay Packers have met on a Monday night at Lambeau Field.
The Packers came out on the winning end of a 43-37 scoreline in that 2014 matchup, and they're favoured to repeat the result when the teams square off for Week 4's Monday nighter.
Green Bay has established itself as one of the best teams in the NFL during the early stages of the 2020 season, with a 3-0 record. The Packers have been prolific in their start to the campaign, becoming just the second team in history to score 120 points and accumulate 1,375 or more yards through the first three games of a season.
They're also protecting the ball well, as the Packers have yet to commit a turnover this season — in fact, Green Bay is the first team to ever score over 35 points in each of its first three games without turning the ball over.
As good as the Packers have been out of the gates, the Falcons have struggled in equal measures.
At 0-3, Atlanta's staring up at the rest of the NFC South with a hill to climb.
The Falcons have suffered huge collapses in their two most recent games, squandering a 29-10 halftime lead over the Cowboys in Week 2 before blowing a 16-point fourth-quarter advantage over the Bears last Sunday. The blown leads have fast become a defining characteristic for the team and cannot continue if it hopes to contend for a playoff spot.
Atlanta will need to quickly find a way to hold on to leads in upcoming games, although it remains to be seen whether the high-flying Packers will even allow the Falcons to gain any kind of advantage on the scoreboard.
Newton out vs. Chiefs
In a game that no one expected to be played on Monday night, the Cam Newton-less New England Patriots visit the Kansas City Chiefs in the early game.
Originally scheduled for Sunday afternoon, the NFL postponed kickoff until the following day due to Newton and Chiefs practice squad QB Jordan Ta'amu each testing positive for the coronavirus. The rest of the players on both teams tested negative, so the game goes Monday evening at 7:05 p.m. ET.
Facing the red-hot Super Bowl champs without Newton will be a huge challenge for the Patriots, who will likely look to Brian Hoyer to step in at QB.
