New England Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo has shared his excitement over quarterback prospect Drake Maye.
After trading away Mac Jones, many experts believe that the Patriots will draft a quarterback with the third-overall pick.
With Caleb Williams projected to be the first-overall pick, New England could draft Drake Maye, Jayden Daniels or J.J. McCarthy.
Mayo told reporters at the NFL league meetings, "Drake Maye had a fantastic interview at the Combine. He brings a lot of energy. You can tell he has that leadership ability.
"The exciting part about a guy like Drake Maye is the ceiling. There's really no ceiling with a guy like that."
Overall, Mayo remained coy on the Patriots' draft plans, "We're open to trading the pick, we're open to taking a guy there."
Mayo also confirmed that they plan to draft and develop, "I'm confident we can absolutely fill the quarterback role. In saying that, though, it's going to take time. Our philosophy in putting this roster together is that you want to draft and develop."
