New England Patriots cornerback Isaiah Bolden has been released from hospital after suffering a scary injury in their preseason game against the Green Bay Packers.

Rookie Bolden was left motionless on the floor after absorbing an accidental hit from a teammate and was taken to Aurora Bay Medical Center in Wisconsin.

The 23-year-old was a seventh-round pick by the Patriots in the 2023 NFL Draft and had made three tackles in the game before the injury.

The game was suspended in the fourth quarter as a result, but on Sunday Bolden posted on X to say thanks for the messages of support.

A Patriots statement on Sunday said: "We thank the medical staff at Aurora Bay Medical Center for their overnight evaluations, as well as the Patriots and Packers medical staffs for their immediate on-field response and care in transporting Isaiah to a nearby hospital.

"Due to the circumstances surrounding the abrupt and unexpected ending to last night's game, the Patriots will return to Foxborough today. The joint practices that were scheduled with the Tennessee Titans on Tuesday and Wednesday are cancelled."

New England finish their preseason against the Tennessee Titans before kicking off their regular season against last season's Super Bowl finalists the Philadelphia Eagles.
