The Pittsburgh Steelers have bolstered their defense.

The Pittsburgh Steelers continue to add to their fearsome defense with the addition of veteran inside linebacker Blake Martinez.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Martinez will be joining the Steelers' 53-man roster after spending this season with the Carolina Panthers practice squad.

But it's safe to say Martinez has had an interesting career before this move to the Steelers.

The 29-year-old had a brief retirement from the NFL after signing with the Raiders practice squad in 2022 where he chose to sell rare Pokemon cards.

Despite Martinez earning approximately $11.5m from this business venture according to The Athletic, he has now been forced to return to the NFL after the player was accused of scamming which resulted in his account being permanently banned from WhatNot, a marketplace for Pokemon card buyers and sellers.

While it will take Martinez some time to adjust the Steelers defense, expect him to feature alongside veterans Elandon Roberts and Mykal Walker as the team continues their push towards a playoff spot.
