NFC East rivals clash on the final day of the regular season as the Philadelphia Eagles visit the New York Giants on tonight.
The Giants were eliminated from postseason contention weeks ago and have started looking towards next season, although they can still play the role of spoilers this weekend.
Not that the Eagles are in any danger of missing the playoffs, mind you — until recently, Philly boasted the best record in the entire league. However, they've since fallen off a bit and now need to defeat the Giants and hope that the Dallas Cowboys fall to the Washington Commanders in order to claim the division title.
Chances are slim, but Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni has to weigh the possibility of a division title (and the seeding that comes with it) against resting key players ahead of the playoffs and risking more poor performances in the postseason.
“Hey, we’ve also got to get out of the rut that we’re in, and so I’m not saying to you yes, I’m not saying to you no,” Sirianni told reporters when asked what route he's considering for Sunday. “I’m saying to you that everything is discussed but there are some unknowns about the game, Dallas and Washington.
"And we’ve got to start — we’ve got to play and coach good football, too. And to be able to go into the playoffs, again, I’m just answering your question, not that I’m thinking too far ahead, but to go into the playoffs not in a rut."
