With Week 7 of the 2021 NFL season upon us, we can definitively say that the "early season" part of the schedule is well and truly behind us.
Stratification has already happened throughout the divisions, and it's now far enough into the campaign to discuss the burgeoning playoff picture with some sort of authority. Of course, it's still relatively early, and things could get better (or worse) for many teams, but there's enough data now to paint a picture on a larger scale.
Two of the teams who could still go either way in terms of success square off on "Thursday Night Football" to kick off the week's action as the Denver Broncos travel to Ohio to face the Cleveland Browns. Both teams sport identical 3-3 records ahead of the contest, and both urgently need a win in order to keep pressure on the two teams ahead of them in their respective divisions.
Sunday's usual glut of games features some interesting matchups, perhaps none more so than the Detroit Lions vs. LA Rams. The teams swapped quarterbacks over the offseason, although only the Matt Stafford-led Rams (5-1) have found success after the trade as the 0-6 Lions are still searching for their first victory with Jared Goff taking the snaps.
"Sunday Night Football" features a pair of sub-.500 teams in the Indianapolis Colts (2-4) and the San Francisco 49ers (2-3). The Colts head to northern California on the heels of a big win in Week 6, while the Niners look to break a three-game losing skid.
Finally, the Seattle Seahawks (2-4) aim for their first win with Geno Smith under center as the New Orleans Saints (3-2) come to town for "Monday Night Football."
