NFL announces players of the month for SeptemberDAZN

On Thursday, the NFL announced the players of the month for September in the AFC and NFC.

AFC

Offense: Josh Allen (QB), Buffalo Bills

Allen led the Bills to a 3-1 record in the opening month of the season, propelling them to the top of the AFC East. Allen threw for 814 yards and seven touchdowns, with zero interception and a 116.5 passer rating, good enough for his third player of the month nod.

Defense: Kyle Van Noy (LB), Baltimore Ravens

Van Noy was a nuisance for opposing offenses throughout the month, recording six sacks, seven tackles for loss, a forced fumble and pass defensed. The Ravens linebacker was the only player in the league with multiple sacks in at least three games in September.

Special teams: Chris Boswell (K), Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers kicker led the AFC with 39 points in September, with 11 made field goals. Of those 11 FGs, five were successful from 50 or more yards.

NFC

Offense: Sam Darnold (QB), Minnesota Vikings

The NFL's leader in passer rating (118.9) this past month, Darnold has been a revelation for the Vikings after signing in the offseason. The quarterback has led the team to a perfect 4-0 record with 11 touchdown passes, most in the league.

Defense: Aidan Hutchinson (DL), Detroit Lions

Hutchinson had a league-high 6.5 sacks in September, and also led the NFL in quarterback pressures with 25.

Special teams: Brandon Aubrey (K), Dallas Cowboys

The former soccer player-turned-NFL kicking star made 12 field goals last month, tops in the league. He also leads the NFL with six made field goals from 50 yards or more.
