The Buffalo Bills had the Kansas City Chiefs on the ropes.
But with the game in the balance, Patrick Mahomes authored an eight-play, 75-yard drive which Isiah Pacheco capped via a four-yard touchdown rush 40 seconds into the fourth quarter.
The score proved to be the fifth and final lead change as the defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs held on to defeat the Bills, 27-24, at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, New York on Sunday night in an AFC Divisional playoff tilt. Mahomes finished with 215 passing yards and two touchdowns — both to Travis Kelce.
The Bills caught breaks, including a late Kansas City fumble for a touchback, and had a chance to tie the game as part of a 16-play, 54-yard drive but Tyler Bass' 44-yard field goal attempt sailed wide right in a crushing miss with 1:47 left.
With the victory, the Chiefs advance to face the Baltimore Ravens next Sunday in the AFC title game.Â
Allen threw for 186 yards and a touchdown, while rushing for two more TDs in the stinging defeat for the Bills.
