A look at the teams who have made the best moves this month.

After a busy couple of weeks, the NFL news cycle has drawn for breath. Free agency has seen a flurry of deals completed over the past ten or so days as teams look to restock their rosters ahead of the 2024 campaign.

So who has done the best job at addressing their needs or doubling down on their strengths this month?

Here is a look at five franchises that used free agency to improve their teams.

Houston Texans

After their worst-to-first turnaround in the AFC South last season under new head coach DeMeco Ryans and rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud, the Texans have done all they can this month to ensure that they are truly in a Super Bowl window.

Danielle Hunter was one of the best defensive free agents on the market, while Denico Autry and Azeez Al-Shaair are both solid signings and alongside Defensive Rookie of the Year Will Anderson Jr, a scary unit is being put together.

While their free agency focus was on the defense, running back Joe Mixon is a smart pick-up on offense and can be a leader for this young, promising team.

Philadelphia Eagles

Following the Eagles dramatic collapse down the home straight last season, the franchise knew they could not afford to coast through free agency.

Saquon Barkley will make the offense instantly better, while linebacker Bryce Huff will cause damage on the other side of the ball. Secondary help was badly needed and C.J. Gardner-Johnson is a decent signing at safety.

Tennessee Titans

Fixing the many gaps in the Titans roster was something of a daunting prospect at the start of the offseason, but general manager Ran Carthon has made a good go of it.

In terms of the offense, Calvin Ridley was the best receiver available this month, Lloyd Cushenberry improves the line and Tony Pollard should be able to replace Derrick Henry effectively.

Defensively, Kenneth Murray Jr and Chidobe Awuzie should both slot-in effectively. If the Titans get the draft right, their rebuilding phases shouldn’t take too long.

Kansas City Chiefs

A scary prospect for the chasing pack, as the Chiefs have been able to re-sign their best free agent while addressing a position a position of need.

Patrick Mahomes will welcome the signing of wide receiver Marquise Brown, while on the other side of the ball, Chris Jones’ return is absolutely key to what the team want to do on defense. Linebacker Drue Tranquill was also re-signed and will be key if they are to challenge for a historic three-peat.

Atlanta Falcons

Sometimes one move is enough to define an offseason. The Falcons were a quarterback away from being a contender last season and the signing of Kirk Cousins should mean that they can now get the most out of their offensive weapons.
