The NFL have confirmed the finalists for eight of The Associated Press’ 2024 NFL Awards, including the shortlist for the league’s MVP award.
The prizes that recognise performances during the 2024 regular season will be dished out during a ceremony on February 6, three days before Super Bowl LIX is played in New Orleans.
The most prestigious award that will be handed out will be the NFL MVP, with five players in the running. Quarterbacks Josh Allen (Buffalo Bills), Joe Burrow (Cincinnati Bengals), Jared Goff (Detroit Lions) and Lamar Jackson (Baltimore Ravens) will be up against Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley for the gong.
Barkley, Burrow and Jackson are all also up for the Offensive Player of the Year award, as are Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase and Ravens running back Derrick Henry.
On the other side of the ball, Zack Baun (Eagles), Myles Garrett (Cleveland Browns), Trey Hendrickson (Bengals), Patrick Surtain II (Denver Broncos) and T.J. Watt (Pittsburgh Steelers) are nominated for the Defensive Player of the Year award.
Jayden Daniels of the Washington Commanders will be the huge favourite to land the Offensive Rookie of the Year prize, ahead of fellow nominees Brock Bowers (Las Vegas Raiders), Malik Nabers (New York Giants), Bo Nix (Broncos) and Brian Thomas Jr (Jacksonville Jaguars).
Philadelphia Eagles pair Cooper DeJean and Quinyon Mitchell are up for the Defensive Rookie of the Year title, along with LA Rams duo Braden Fiske and Jared Verse, with Chop Robinson of the Miami Dolphins also nominated.
The Comeback Player of the Year nominees are Joe Burrow (Bengals), Sam Darnold (Minnesota Vikings), J.K. Dobbins (LA Chargers), Christian Gonzalez (New England Patriots) and Damar Hamlin (Bills).
There are also a pair of coaching awards up for grabs. Nominated for Coach of the Year are Dan Campell (Lions), Kevin O’Connell (Vikings), Sean Payton (Broncos), Dan Quinn (Commanders) and Andy Reid (Kansas City Chiefs).
The Assistant Coach of the Year contenders are Joe Brady (Bills), Vic Fangio (Eagles), Brian Flores (Vikings), plus former Lions duo Aaron Glenn and Ben Johnson, who have now landed head coaching jobs at the New York Jets and Chicago Bears respectively.
Snoop Dogg will host the awards, which will also see the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award handed out, while the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2025 will also be announced.
