Russell Wilson is looking for a new team after his release from the Broncos.

NFL legend Warren Moon believes that Russell Wilson could follow the path tread by Joe Flacco last season to get his NFL career back on track.

Wilson was released by the Denver Broncos earlier this week, as they drew a line under what is one of the worst trades in NFL history after the former Seattle Seahawk turned in two seasons of below-par play.

The 35-year-old is now looking for a new team, but Moon does not believe that the Super Bowl XLVIII winner will settle for a back-up role, as many have speculated.

Instead, Moon has highlighted the route that another former Bronco signal-caller took last season, when Joe Flacco signed for the Cleveland Browns in late November. The 39-year-old would go on to lead the team into the playoffs after winning four of his five games as a starter.

“I don’t think he would do it,” former Houston Oilers great Moon told TMZ Sports when asked if Wilson would take on a backup role.

“I think if anything, he would wait. If it takes to the end of the season, something like that. You saw Joe Flacco come out of retirement halfway through the season with Cleveland because he waited for that starting opportunity.

“He came in, he started and took that team to the playoffs. I think Russell would rather do something like that than start the season off as a backup.

“Maybe there’s a situation where he goes to the Pittsburgh Steelers where Kenny Pickett is there and they end up competing for the job. I can see Russell competing for a job, but I don’t see him just saying I’m going to give it up and be a backup quarterback.”
