NFL legend and future Hall of Famer J.J. Watt has offered his ideas on changing the NFL Draft process.
The NFL world is currently knee-deep in the 2024 NFL Draft. The combine took place last month, colleges are holding pro days for their prospects, and NFL teams are doing all their research and analysis on all prospects.
It is exhausting for all involved. Watt discussed the situation on Kevin Clark's This Is Football podcast.
He said, "You have to praise the NFL for monetising and building the exposure of the NFL Draft. But, from a playing perspective, the big change I want to see regards college players opting out of Bowl games. It is a disservice to the game when that happens."
In recent seasons, college prospects have started to opt out of representing their school in end-of-season Bowl games. It has become a significant talking point ahead of draft season.
Moreover, prospects are now opting out of pre-draft workouts or participating at the NFL Scouting Combine.
Projected first-overall pick Caleb Williams did not participate in any physical drills or tests at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine.
Williams is not the first and won't be the last. However, these decisions have sometimes drawn the ire of the authorities and various people within the NFL.
