They went from worst to first in their division last year - but what can they do in 2024?

The Houston Texans were the NFL’s breakout team in 2023.

After finishing bottom of the AFC South in 2022 with a 3-13-1 record under Lovie Smith, the team completed a stunning turnaround under the new head coach DeMeco Ryans last year.

The resurgent Texans would win their division with a 10-7 record before beating the Cleveland Browns 45-14 in the Wild Card playoff round. While they would fall to the Baltimore Ravens in the Divisional Round, this first-to-worst turnaround and a talented, young roster augurs well for the future.

Sensing that their Super Bowl window is truly open, the Texans traded for Buffalo Bills receiver Stefon Diggs this offseason to give reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year C.J. Stroud another weapon.

It’s a move that has excited fellow wideout Nico Collins.

"Oh yeah, it's going to be dangerous, real dangerous, man," Collins said during his youth football camp, via KPRC2 Sports.

"Adding Diggs to the room, it's going to be a lot of weapons. There's going to be great opportunities for everybody. It's only adding more depth, more weapons to the offense, more weapons to the team. The sky is the limit for us. Can't wait until the season is going to start."

Add in another experienced free agent in running back Joe Mixon and Collins cannot wait for the Texans offense to be unleashed.

"Man, it's nice. I feel like the offense, it's a lot of weapons," he added. "Everybody has got a chance. When the ball is in their hands, an explosive play is coming. I feel like, for us, we need to continue to work on the details, continue to be us, continue to have fun and show the world what we can do. I can't wait for it."

The Texans are likely to be among the Super Bowl favourites when the 2024 season gets underway and will find out just how their road to the big game in New Orleans looks when the NFL release the full 2024 schedule on Wednesday.
