It was not a brilliant spectacle on Sunday afternoon.

The Los Angeles Chargers' road trip to face the New England Patriots in Week 13 was never expected to be a high-scoring game.

The Patriots are the lowest scoring team in the NFL in 2023, while the Chargers have not clicked on offense and are missing key figures Mike Williams and Joshua Palmer.

Even so, Sunday's game was incredibly underwhelming, as a combination of out-of-sorts offenses, swirling wind and heavy rain resulted in an extremely low-scoring game.

The only points of the game were scored by Chargers kicker Cameron Dicker, whose two field goals completed the scoring in a 6-0 win for the AFC West franchise.

Since 1966 there have only been 19 games in the regular season and postseason which have had six points or less points scored in total.

Six of those games ended 3-0, the most recent of which was the Pittsburgh Steelers' 3-0 win over the Miami Dolphins in horrendous conditions back in 2007.

There have also been two games to finish 5-0 - the Dallas Cowboys beating the Detroit Lions in 1970 and Buffalo Bills getting the better of the Cincinnati Bengals in 1978.

Other than those eight games, Week 13's game between the Chargers and Patriots ranks as the joint-ninth lowest scoring game in the NFL since 1966.

There have been a total of 11 other 6-0 games, the most recent being the Jacksonville Jaguars' win over the Indianapolis Colts back in 2018.

The Chargers' win over the Patriots saw more than twice as many punts (13) than points (6), but the win moves the Bolts to 5-7 on the season while the Pats drop to 2-10.
