Russell Wilson is set to sign for the Pittsburgh Steelers for the 2024 NFL season.
The former Seattle Seahawks quarterback has been looking for a new home following his release by the Denver Broncos last week and will now join the Steelers when the new league year begins on Wednesday.
Wilson posted a video on his social media on Sunday evening, showing clips of Steelers players and fans with the caption: ‘Year 13. Grateful. @Steelers”.
The NFL Network reported that the Super Bowl XLVIII winner’s deal will cost Pittsburgh $1.2 million, making the 35-year-old a potential bargain option for the new campaign, as Denver will be paying the QB $39million next season, as per the terms of his release.
Wilson was able to get a head start on free agency last week after being cut by the Broncos, meeting with the Steelers on Friday and it would appear that was a productive link-up.
The nine-time Pro Bowler looks set to compete with Kenny Pickett for the starting job in Pittsburgh, with Mason Rudolph set for free agency.
The Steelers lost to the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Wild Card round last season after earning a 10-7 regular season record that saw them finish third in the AFC North.
Last year Wilson improved on his disastrous first season with the Broncos following his blockbuster 2022 trade, but found himself benched for the final two games of the campaign before being released last week.
