Lamar Jackson has never beaten the Kansas City Chiefs.
Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens get another chance to deal with their "kryptonite" when the Chiefs pay an early-season visit to M&T Bank Stadium for a "Sunday Night Football" clash. The Ravens' quarterback has come second-best to his opposite number, Chiefs pivot Patrick Mahomes, in all three meetings between the teams with the duo at their respective helms, and Jackson looks to help nullify Kansas City's kryptonite effect on his club on the fourth try.
"I said that because they did beat us three times," Jackson told media this week. "So it's like, 'Man, we've got to find a way to win.' And hopefully this Sunday night coming up it will be different."
With two of the league's best young QBs in this matchup, focus naturally drifts towards the former MVPs. Jackson doesn't want to hear any of that, as the 24-year-old says its a meeting of two great teams — not just two MVP-calibre quarterbacks.
"It's not about me and Mahomes – not to me, probably to everyone else," Jackson said. "It's the Ravens vs. the Kansas City Chiefs. They did beat us three times or whatever, but that's in the past. We have a better opportunity this time to come around, and we'll take the advantage and win at our home stadium. But I'm not dwelling on those losses; come Sunday night, we're going to play."
