It's Geno Smith time for the Seattle Seahawks.
For the first time since 2012, someone other than Russell Wilson will be taking the snaps for the Seahawks. Wilson suffered a hand injury last week that required surgery, and the longtime Seattle starter now sees himself on the sidelines until mid-November.
Enter Smith, the veteran best known for his run as starter for the New York Jets in the early 2010s. The 31-year-old hasn't been a first-choice QB since the 2014 season, but Smith says he feels like he's "21 years old" ahead of his run as the Seahawks' No. 1 until Wilson returns.
"The moment is what it is," Smith told NFL.com on Friday. "We have a Sunday night game in Pittsburgh. It's one night, not the rest of my life. Mostly, it's a game I love to play, a game that I'm passionate about. It's one that I prepare for and am ready for whether I get to play or not. It's not a chance to showcase anything, that's how I see it. I'm not going to change my stripes. I'm just looking forward to playing football."
