There's no doubt that the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers have a heated rivalry, but Aaron Rodgers has ensured that there's more to it than the normal regional squabbles when the teams meet on "Sunday Night Football."
Bears ownership is on the line.
No, not really — the McCaskey family still holds the majority stake in the team — but nearly two months ago Aaron Rodgers famously told a heckling Chicago fan "I own you" after the Packers' latest win over their nearby foe.
Now the Bears get a chance to make Rodgers pay for those words, or the Packers could reinforce their quarterback's inflammatory statement.
"I don't know if you can question a whole lot of what I said. We've had a good record over the years against them and won a lot of games," Rodgers said.
For their part, the Bears didn't take offence to Rodgers' trash talk, which was picked up by field mics and broadcast to the entire world. It's just what happens on a football field and the Bears will have to stop Rodgers from getting the opportunity to do it again, said Jimmy Graham.
"This isn't golf. ... It's a game of whupping the man across from you, simple as that, so there's not a lot of niceties," the Bears tight end said.
"It's a part of the game that I love. I've got to figure out a way to talk to people once I get out of here because you can't be talking to people like that in real life. So I'm going to enjoy each and every snap I get here for the rest of my career."
