First and third in the NFC East meet up as the Philadelphia Eagles host the Dallas Cowboys on "Sunday Night Football."
Not that topping the division means much in this case — the Eagles sit atop the NFC East with a 2-4-1 record and have allowed 33 more points than they've scored so far this season. That means the Cowboys (2-5) have struggled even more in 2020, and they're also currently on a two-game losing streak after blowout losses to Washington and the Cardinals.
Nonetheless, the Eagles and Cowboys have taken a similar path to Sunday's contest, and they'll both like their chances in this one.
The last time they met was Dec. 22, 2019, with the Eagles coming up victorious. Philadelphia claimed a 17-9 win in that game, with quarterback Carson Wentz racking up 319 passing yards, one touchdown pass and a 108.4 QB rating. It was the second straight game against the Cowboys at Lincoln Financial Field in which Wentz recorded at least 300 passing yards and a 100 QB rating, so he'll be eager to continue that streak on Sunday.
On the opposing side, the Cowboys can point to Andy Dalton's own success against Philadelphia — Dalton passed for 332 yards and 2 TDs for a 130 rating in his last start against the Eagles — but that came way back in 2016 when the 32-year-old was still with the Bengals. Of course, Dalton's availability is up in the air as he was in concussion protocol earlier this week, which would mean third-stringer Ben DiNucci gets the nod.
For the Cowboys to have a chance, they'll need to generate much more offence than the 13 combined points they mustered over the past two weeks. Whether Dalton and co. can pull it off, while also limiting an Eagles offence that averages over 23 points per game, remains to be seen.
