The Super Bowl is nearly upon us and while the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs prepare for the biggest game of the year, there are similar scenes at ad agencies across the USA.
Super Bowl advertising slots are the most high-profile and most expensive of the year, with CBS reportedly selling out all of their commercial break slots back in November amid an asking price of $7million for a 30-second ad.
With more than 100,000,000 sets of eyes on the Super Bowl broadcast, it’s clear why the networks can demand these eye-watering sums and for the brands involved, they will want to make the most of their investment. And that often means bringing in the biggest celebrities.
A host of early teasers have been released ahead of the big game which takes place in Las Vegas on February 11, so which celebrities will we be seeing in Super Bowl commercials this year?
Former England captain David Beckham and his ex-Spice Girl wife Victoria have teased their Uber Eats commercial, which features a nod to a moment from their Nextflix documentary that went viral last year.
Victoria wears a white t-shirt that reads ‘My dad has a Rolls-Royce’ and in a clip released ahead of the full advert, she says: “So David and I are gonna be in a little commercial.”
Echoing his line in the documentary when he mocked Victoria for her claim of having a ‘working class upbringing’, David then says: “Be honest, be honest’, before more banter follows.
Beckham isn’t the only soccer megastar to feature, as Lionel Messi, who plays for Beckham’s Inter Miami side, will feature alongside former Dolphins quarterback Dan Marino and Ted Lasso star Jason Sudeikis for Michelob Ultra.
Jenna Ortega, star of Scream and Wednesday will feature in an advert for Doritos Dinamita, while Saturday Night Live alum Kate McKinnon will star alongside a cat in a Hellmann’s Mayonnaise commercial.
Kris Jenner will be appearing in her first Super Bowl commercial, which is for Oeros, while Pringles have revealed that Chris Pratt will be in their advert.
Expect plenty more teasers to follow over the next week as the hype increases ahead of the big game.
