Tom Brady makes history.

Super Bowl 55 was centered on the generational matchup between Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady and Kansas City Chiefs signal-caller Patrick Mahomes.

The Buccaneers defense throttled Mahomes for 60 minutes, and Brady completed 21 of 29 for 201 yards along with three touchdowns to lead Tampa Bay to a 31-9 victory over the Chiefs to win Super Bowl 55.

Brady, who won his seventh Super Bowl and was named MVP of the game, will get the headlines, but it was defensive coordinator Todd Bowles and his defense that led the attack. The Buccaneers made life miserable for Mahomes from start to finish. They limited Mahomes to only 26 of 49 for 270 yards and two interceptions and limited the high octane offense to three field goals by Harrison Butker. Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce led all receivers with 10 receptions for 133 yards. Tyreek Hill, who was kept in check, was held to seven catches for 67 yards.

The Bucs defense played fast and aggressive the entire game and never let Mahomes get into a rhythm and sacked him three times. The Buccaneers also forced the Chiefs to go 3 for 13 on third-down conversions and one of three on fourth-down attempts.

The 43-year-old Brady started slow but got into the flow of things near the end of the first, capping it off with the first of two touchdown passes to his favorite target of many years, Rob Gronkowski. The running game was also on point for the Bucs as Leonard Fournette had 16 carries for 89 yards and a touchdown. Ronald Jones had 12 carries for 61 yards.
