Former NFL cornerback Jason McCourty has hit back at criticism towards San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy.
Purdy, who was drafted with the final pick of the 2022 NFL Draft, has led the 49ers to two straight NFC Championship games.
However, in the Divisional Round against the Green Bay Packers, Purdy was far from his best, despite eventually putting together the game-winning drive.
The sophomore quarterback has been facing increased criticism, but McCourty - who won a Super Bowl with the New England Patriots - defended Purdy.
"The one thing he has proven in his young career is when he is on the field they win football games," McCourty told Good Morning Football.
"Him going back to an NFC Championship game, and possibly winning that game, is huge.
"You can say what you want about his arm strength or athletic ability, anything of the above, when the guy is out there they win and you cannot take that away from him.
"There'll still be the naysayers and guys critiquing his game, but it says a lot about his pedigree - especially where he's come from - to have the confidence to enter the line-up last year and start winning games."
