There are plenty of big names needing a team for 2024.

The deadline for NFL teams to franchise tag players has now passed, and the free agent market is much clearer.

The group of running backs needing to find a new home for 2024 is among the best in free agency history, with some star players available for signing from 13 March.

With the 2024 class of rookie running backs not expected to contain many star players, teams may be more tempted to recruit veteran players this offseason.

DAZN takes a look at five running backs available in the free agency market.

Josh Jacobs

The Las Vegas Raiders opted not to franchise tag star running back Josh Jacobs, and the 25-year-old could now be on the move.

Jacobs led the NFL in rushing yards just two seasons ago, and despite an injury hit 2023 season, he still possesses the quality to elevate a team's running game to the next level.

Saquon Barkley

Another player who avoided a franchise tag is former Offensive Rookie of the Year Saquon Barkley, whose time with the New York Giants appears to be at an end.

The 2018 second overall pick has topped 1,000 all-purpose yards in four of his five healthy seasons in the NFL, and will be one of - if not the - most sought after running back of free agency.

Derrick Henry

At 29-years-old, Derrick Henry is still defying the odds at running back, though he did see a slight dip in form in 2023 before his time with the Tennessee Titans came to an end.

The 2020 Offensive Player of the Year has led the NFL in rushing attempts four of the last five seasons and has had double-digit touchdowns in six straight campaigns.

Austin Ekeler

Austin Ekeler has proved himself to be one of the best dual-threat running backs in the NFL, showing elite pass-catching ability to add to his running game.

After scoring 18 touchdowns for the Los Angeles Chargers in 2022, Ekeler's production dropped in 2023 and is now looking for a new home. He may not be as explosive as he was, now 28, but he still has a place in the NFL.

Tony Pollard

Dallas Cowboys running back Tony Pollard was among the most disappointing players in 2023, having failed to take the next step in his career many predicted following Ezekiel Elliot's departure.

That being said, the 26-year-old still topped 1,000 rushing yards on the season and like Ekeler has excellent pass-catching ability. If Pollard can recapture his form in 2024 he will be a huge addition for any NFL franchise.
