The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Philadelphia Eagles only meet once every two or three years, so Thursday's matchup is a rare one.
Tampa Bay's come out on top in the two most recent meetings — in 2018 and 2015 — and the Bucs' ability to extend their winning streak against the Eagles to three games hinges largely on the status of Tom Brady, who injured his thumb during last week's 45-17 victory over the Miami Dolphins.
Brady struck his hand against an opponent's helmet late in the first half but finished the game, throwing three touchdown passes after suffering the injury. With the quick turnaround time between games, there was some concern that Brady would be forced to rest the ailing appendage.
No such need, said the 44-year-old superstar.
"I think it's just a little bit sore, but I expected it to be. But I think I should be fine for Thursday," Brady told reporters on Monday, via ESPN.com. "There's no serious injury at all. It's more just discomfort, but I think that should be gone here in the next day or two."
Brady added: "This is just, you play a game, you get hit -- you deal with bumps and bruises over the course of the year. It just so happens that this bruise is on my hand."
