The LA Rams and Seattle Seahawks are both chasing the Arizona Cardinals for the top spot in the NFC West, and on "Thursday Night Football," they'll face off in what has become an important early-season test.
With the Cardinals going a perfect 4-0 through the first four weeks of the season, any slip-up has led to lost ground for the rest of the division's teams. The Rams (3-1) have only lost one game thus far in the campaign — to the aforementioned Cardinals last week. The Seahawks (2-2) have yet to play Arizona this season, with their first matchup of the year set for next month, but Seattle's got some opportunities to keep pace or gain ground on the divisional leaders in the weeks before that potentially huge game.
One such opportunity for the Seahawks comes Thursday against the team directly above them in the standings. Seattle and LA haven't met since last season's NFC Wild Card game, which resulted in a 30-20 victory for the Rams.
As divisional foes, the teams are highly familiar with one another. Russell Wilson and Co. will surely look to exact some revenge for that playoff loss while simultaneously pulling themselves on level footing with the Rams in the standings.
Wilson knows he and his team will have to be at the top of their game to come out victorious on Thursday.
"They look like a great football team is what they like," Wilson said of the Rams, via SI.com. "They always do. Obviously, coach (Raheem) Morris, he's been a tremendous coach throughout his career and he really has those guys flying around making plays. We have to be on our A-game. The biggest thing – they mix in their coverages and shells and all that kind of stuff. I think their defensive line is extremely talented, the linebackers can fly around and make plays. Their secondary too as well. They do a lot of great things. We're going to have to play our best football."
