The Battle of Ohio resumes Thursday as the Bengals travel north to Cleveland to face the Browns.
It hasn't exactly been glorious days for Ohio NFL fans in recent seasons, with the two teams combining for 21 seasons of playoff-less football (the Browns own a league-high 17-year postseason drought). Every year brings new hope, but Week 1 saw both Cleveland and Cincinnati drop their respective openers.
Interestingly, it was the Bengals who came closest to grabbing a "W" on opening day, as they squandered a fourth-quarter lead to allow the Chargers a comeback 16-13 victory. It was a bit of a stunner for a team that has nowhere to go but up from a horrendous 2-14 record, but at least the Bengals were in the game until the end.
The Browns, however, were most definitely not. Taking on a Super Bowl contender in the Ravens, the Browns were systematically dismantled by Baltimore, 38-6.
With the first week behind them, both teams have to be feeling good about getting a better result against their in-state rival. The only question is which side comes out on top?
