The Chicago Bears have a good opportunity to climb back to .500 this week.
Facing the Washington Commanders at Soldier Field on "Thursday Night Football," the Bears (2-3) hope that the bright lights of primetime will shine on them as they look to bounce back from a two-game losing streak. The Commanders (1-4) won their opening contest of the season and proceeded to lose the next four, making Chicago the favourites in a matchup between struggling teams.
To that end, the Bears will look to second-year quarterback Justin Fields to turn in a good performance on Thursday after impressing his team's coaching staff despite last week's loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
"He's got a few more reps under his belt now, so I think he's starting to play within his style and his ways, and he's finding his own way within our system and helping his teammates around him and all that good stuff," Bears offensive coordinator Luke Getsy said of Fields. "There's a lot that goes into playing the position, right? And so each week he's been able to take on more and feel more and understand more."
