After three postponements, the Week 12 matchup between the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers will finally be played. The AFC North showdown kicks off Wednesday at 3:40 p.m. ET, which is nearly a week after it was originally set to be played.
At issue was a COVID-19 outbreak among the Ravens' roster, which sidelined 20 players as of Tuesday morning. Not all of those players actually tested positive for COVID-19 — a portion of the 20 is made up of "high-risk close contacts" to the players who tested positive — but it's safe to say that the Ravens (6-4) will be heavily depleted when they face the 10-0 Steelers.
The game is a rematch of Pittsburgh's 28-24 win over Baltimore in Week 8, after which Steelers rookie standout Chase Claypool tweeted that he's "never heard of" losing. In the lead-up to the rematch, Claypool and his Steelers teammates have made their disdain at the numerous postponements known on social media, including tight end Eric Ebron tweeting that it'd cost him if he made his true feelings known.
Jokes aside, the Ravens would be in tough against the Steelers under normal circumstances. With a sizable portion of their roster unavailable, however — including reigning NFL MVP Lamar Jackson — it could be a near-impossible task.
