Irishman's injury saw fight postponed last month.

UFC fans awaiting Conor McGregor's return to the octagon were disappointed last month when the Irishman had to withdraw from his comeback fight due to injury.

McGregor was scheduled to make his return at UFC 303, his first fight since breaking his leg during defeat by Dustin Poirier in July 2021.

However, following a broken toe, his clash with rival Michael Chandler was postponed and is expected to be moved to a later date.

The disappointment was felt among the fighter's peers, too, including British star Paddy Pimblett, who spoke exclusively to DAZN thanks to AceOdds, and sympathised with McGregor and his injury woes.

"Obviously, I wanted to see the fight. That’s the main thing. We wanted to see the fight," he said.

"It's sad that it didn't happen, but I can see where Conor's coming from. He hasn't fought in so long and then he's coming back off a serious, serious leg injury and then breaks his toe.

"There are people in our gym who have broken their toe before, even if it is your little toe, after such a long layoff, you don't want to just get back in the cage. You don't want to get back in the cage not a hundred per cent, so I can understand where he's coming from.

"I also feel very sorry for Michael Chandler because Michael Chandler waited two years for that fight and then it fell through again. I think they're meant to be doing it later this year, so I'm looking forward to it."
