Legendary trainer Javier Mendez believes Tom Aspinall does have what is necessary to beat the current UFC heavyeweight champion Jon Jones.
Aspinall made a triumphant return to the Octagon on Saturday night with a destructive first round stoppage win against Marcin Tybura.
Following his victory, Aspinall took to the microphone and called out the current UFC heavyweight champion who makes the first defence of his title on November 11 against Stipe Miocic at UFC 295.
But while Aspinall is being billed by many as the future face of the UFC's heavyweight division, Mendez is split as to whether the British fighter can dethrone arguably the greatest athlete to step inside the Octagon.
"Tom Aspinall 100 percent would have a chance against Jon Jones," Mendez told SafeBettingSites.
"I'd favour Jones though, because if he takes the fight he knows he [Aspinall] can't do it.
"But if we give Aspinall a few more fights and experience then I might reverse my pick."
