Charles Oliveira used the co-main event stage at UFC 289 to remind MMA fans and critics alike just how special he is.
The former UFC lightweight world champion blasted Beneil Dariush with a head kick and left hand before dropping him with a massive right and finishing him with some hammerfists for an electric first-round stoppage in Vancouver, Canada. The victory gives "do Bronx" a UFC record 20 stoppage victories.
That being said, the current, reigning lightweight world titleholder Islam Makhachev wasn't impressed. Makhachev, who defeated Oliveira by a second-round arm-triangle choke submission in October, used the moment as an opportunity to send his rival a message.
With talk like that, perhaps the apt next move is for the UFC to have these two run it back.
