Charles Oliveira's stern message to Conor McGregor: 'I'm going to put you on your ass'

Charles Oliveira's stern message to Conor McGregor: 'I'm going to put you on your ass'DAZN
The newly crowned lightweight champion is letting one of the most notable athletes in the world what would happen if they do meet.

It didn't take long for Charles Oliveira to start being called out after making a comeback for the ages as he went from nearly being finished by Michael Chandler to roaring back to stop him in the second round to capture the vacant lightweight title in the main event of Saturday's UFC 262. Who called him out you might ask?

Former featherweight and lightweight champion Conor McGregor took to social media and let Oliveira know that if he gets past Dustin Poirier in their trilogy bout at UFC 264, then he's coming after him next.

It didn't take "Do Bronx" long to get wind of McGregor's statement. When asked about the comments during his UFC 262 post-fight press conference to discuss his title victory, Oliveira fired back at McGregor.

"Conor, worry about Dustin," Oliveira said through an interpreter. "Conor, since you're so tough: First of all, you beat Dustin, and then you come over to Brazil, and I'm going to put you on your ass. First, he's got to get past Dustin. He's one of these guys that just talks a lot. He's got to beat Dustin first."

During UFC 262 fight week, UFC president Dana White said the winner of Oliveira-Chandler would meet the victor of Poirier-McGregor. Oliveira isn't worried about that right now. He's going to go on vacation and see how things play out.

"I battled hard to get here," Oliveira said. "Everyone's talking about who it's going to be next – Poirier or Conor. I'll leave that my manager, and I'm going to go home and rest."
